I am curious if we can start a discussion comparing management salaries at 5-star hotels. Specifically interested in Vancouver but all locations are invited to take part. Please feel free to give the brand of the hotel and position you know of.

I live in Vancouver and have some exposure to the hospitality industry, in particular high end hotels.

Based on my knowledge, a mid-manager in a Vancouver 5 star hotel, such as Fairmount Vancouver, or Four Seasons, should earn between K$50 to K$70 per year, depending on experience and education.

We are staying at The Pop Century Resort to save a little cash. From what we hear the pop century does not have the best dinning, so we decided to eat at the other resorts. We are looking for something cheap yet fun to eat at. We like the looks of the wilderness lodge/ cabins and the animal kingdom lodge. What are some good restaurants at the other resorts?

My family and I really enjoy eating at Chef Mickeys for breakfast over at the Contemporary resort.. it’s a buffet style character breakfast.

I would recommend skipping the Kona Cafe in the Polynesian hotel, it’s nothing special and I really did not enjoy their food. Nothing that great about it.
However on the other side of the Polynesian, there is a restaurant called Ohana that is also a character breakfast, they’re good for family breakfast, lunches, dinners. etc.

Also, another character breakfast haha.. but with different characters! is 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian Resort.. this is also a buffet style restaurant with very good food, and it’s been the best overall dining experience I’ve had (it features characters from Alice in Wonderland including the Mad Hatter who is VERY funny! And Prince Charming, a Few Princesses, etc..)

about a hundred million dollars. it just a rough estimate. or one billion for more fancy great hotel with a five star rate.

if you’re in kansas, and the best there is is a 3 star hotel, probably $100. If it’s the Ritz Carlton in Laguna, probably $1500

I like to know what makes a hotel a boutique hotel? What do you think you well get when you think of boutique? Do you prefer a boutique hotel over a regular hotel? If so, why? I hear this word used when some hotels describe them self, but I don’t know what it exactly means. I would appreciate any help I can get.

a boutique hotel is smaller than another hotel. I usually like a boutique hotel over a huge hotel. In boutique hotel the staff is smaller (not less) it is just teh same people that you will run into because teh hotel is smaller. This is a plus because they knw you and you know them. if makes it more personal and usually you get better service when it is more personal!

I dont know what the definition of boutique but i would say i have never been at a boutique hotel that had over 50 rooms.

Hi, when i was like 6 months old i had a surgery done on my stomach and it left a big scar going horizontal across my whole stomach. Its really big. I need a cream or something to get rid of big surgery scars… i could buy somewhere at CVS. I know that there are crams and whatever to get rid of tiny scars, but i need something that will work for this one. I want to be able to wear bikinis!

I’ve used BioOil to help with scarring/stretch marks. You can get it basically everywhere. It’s a little expensive, but it works.

I’m travelling to Dubai for a week, and staying in a five star hotel called the Ritz Carlton. And without the internet, I slowly die. I do have a laptop, so all i need is a wire or some [FREE] wifi.

No; in fact, the cheaper hotels usually have free Wi-Fi; the top hotels charge quite a bit (12$ a 24 hour period in some places). The Ritz & the Four Seasons almost always charge. You can call the toll free # and ask. However, if you are paying for the hotel in Dubai-whats another $12 a day??

Please tell me, im staying at the Hilton hotel and i read that is likey that they’d stay there but it’s 5 miniuts away from the wembly areana so i dont know.

We are planning a weekend trip to NYC and I see that there is a huge price difference in staying in the city and out of the city (duh!). Do any of the hotels near the airports offer a free shuttle into the city or do we have to take a cab? I need recommendations on where to stay. We may be coming up via Amtrack, but we haven’t decided yet.
