Selena giving a tour of her Corpus Cristi boutique!
Duration : 0:3:48
I’ve always wondered because it seems too easy just to walk in and ask for an application. I’ve tried looking on the websites but on Chanel they didn’t have any for Las Vegas and I couldn’t find a career or job opportunity section on Dior’s site. If anyone knows or has had a job at any high end boutique like that please let me know how you got the job. Thanks!
To be honest, they are VERY picky. Not only do you have to be ‘pretty’, you have to have a ‘look’. You basically have to look just as good as the models in the adverts.
you have to convey the image that Chanel or Dior portrays.
Plus, they prefer if you had a strong background in high end retail.
It’s one thing to be the girl who worked at Macy’s for 2 years (or whatever) but they want to know that you can handle the clientele.
High end is 155 million % customer service. and you have a client book. So you have to do more than stand there and greet customers a-la Wet Seal.
They don’t offer store line positions online because each individual store manager wants to hire you, and YES they are judging the HECK out of you when you come in and ask for an application and when you turn it back in.
Most of the stylist that work in those stores heard about the position from the ‘inside’…word of mouth.
as a walk in, your CV has to be ON POINT for them to even consider you…or else it’s in the trash.
I’m not sure your age, but they don’t screw around with teens.
SO I say try to get an internship through your college (assuming you go to college). you’ll be the butt girl, but that’s the only way you’ll get in if you don’t have the luxury background.
However, there is always that little thing called luck….so good luck!

I have a job interview tomorrow for a boutique that sells high end things (House of Harlow, Rock & Republic, Free People, etc…). I was wondering what I should expect from the interview and how I should present myself. Any advice or pointers would be great! Thank you.
My advice is just be yourself
i want to open my own clothing boutique with alot of eveningwear or clubwear and daywear and i wanted to know how it is to run a boutique. and i also wanted to what do you do in a clothing boutique? (do you design the clothing) please help!
I would start off by
1) Saving money for capital
2) Taking business classes like Accounting, Management and Marketing
3) Do research on your target market. If you don’t know what I mean, please see number 2
Running a boutique can mean designing clothing but it’s much more than that. You can run any type of business but you need to determine your market, the cost of goods to be sold including labor required, supplies, and overhead. Most of all you need money which means you will need at least some money of your own to invest or have investors. In addition, you will need a business plan of everything that I mentioned including estimated Profit and Loss before a bank will even look at you. You could always go to Prosper.com if you think someone may want to invest in your dream. Good luck. You have a long way to go.

My friend just recently opened a small females clothing boutique. It isn’t too big of a town, but its in a good location. Maybe some ideas that are cost effective also would be helpful since she has only been open a few days.
when I opened my store my husband dressed up and danced on the roof of our van outside the store. Short of going that extreme maybe you could put a mannequin on the roof of your vehicle to model some of your clothing. Sometimes people don’t look at the shop in particular but something on the side of the street out of the ordinary will stick with them. I still have people come in the store and tell me they saw him on the roof and that was 2 years ago! it might just catch peoples eye if you have two of them…having a conversation, like the old navy mannequins…what can you lose?

I am starting a cute online girly boutique. How should I advertise? Can i pass out flyers at a local mall? send to magazines? what works, what doesnt?
Since this sounds like a new business that doesn’t have much following, I would suggest you find local avenues to advertise your wears, such as college dorms, malls, hair shows, fashion shows. You can even put on a fashion show using some local students to show off your stuff and build some customers then provide them with your website to share with others and purchase from you.
Good luck
Im looking to start my own Clothng/ Accessories boutique. I would really like to have both high end (Juicy Couture Ect.) and also Unique things. How do I go about getting the name brand things? Any help would help.
Thank You So Much.
go to the brands’ websites and look on the bottom of the page. there should be a link on each of them for dealer inquiries
